Capitalism and Mindfulness walk into a bar called Covid. Capitalism appears shaky and maybe a little lost. Mindfulness asks, “What’s the problem?”
Capitalism starts talking a mile a minute about the falling stock market, rising unemployment rates and projected recession. He starts ranting about VUCA.
Mindfulness nods, sips her drink, and offers, “I see it differently. Want to know what I see?”
Whether it’s his second whiskey or it’s her calm demeanor, Capitalism slows down, breathes a little deeper, and begins to listen.
“I see fear. I see anxiety. I see discomfort with uncertainty, which is really fear of losing control.
I see the world has entered new territory and there’s no map. No-one has experience here and there’s no leadership that people trust.
I see what’s needed is happy, healthy human beings who are courageous and collaborative. Who are creative and compassionate. Who are agile and can self-regulate.
You can be that.
I see what’s needed—is me. I can train you. Are you interested?”
Capitalism had developed a crush on her. He’d follow her about anywhere. Before she turned and walked out the door she put her glass down and then her card.
